The challenge: Trust in AI Is under pressure

Across the industry, insurers are wrestling with a difficult problem. Many AI tools today rely heavily on probabilistic models such as large language models. While powerful, they can behave unpredictably, especially in high-stakes claims decisions where inconsistencies, hallucinations or hidden errors can have real consequences.

The result? Automation stalled at the point of actual decision-making. Claims teams remained overloaded. Customers were left waiting. Confidence in AI was low.

We entered the category of Excellence in Claims Technology because we saw an opportunity to show that there is a safer, more reliable way to use AI in claims.

Our approach: Neurosymbolic AI built for precision and accountability

What makes our technology different is our neurosymbolic design, which combines the strengths of neural and symbolic systems to deliver controlled, trustworthy automation at scale.

• Neural models extract structured information from documents

• Symbolic rules enforce constraints, handle edge cases and encode domain expertise

The system answers only when it is at least 99 percent certain and provides a consistent yes, no or don’t-know response. Ambiguous claims are automatically flagged for human review, enabling safe, controlled automation at scale.

This approach allows insurers to benefit from AI without lowering their standards.

We partnered with a UK Insurtech to pilot the platform.
